Dr. Gelhaus

Dr. Shelby Gelhaus joined Georgia Eye Partners in 2023 to begin her post-doctoral training as an Ocular Disease Resident Optometrist. She joined the practice full-time in 2024 and plays an important role as a glaucoma optometry extender. Originally from Ohio, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bowling Green State University. During her undergraduate studies as a pre-optometry student, she volunteered her time to help at many iSee and Realeyes programs throughout Northwest Ohio. She then attended Kentucky College of Optometry where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2023. While at Kentucky, she completed externship training with an emphasis in ocular disease at both Milan Eye Centerin Buford, GA and Bennett and Bloom Eye Centers in Louisville, KY. Shelby served as the Private Practice Club President for her optometry school where she planned and hosted on-campus events with industry partners and business leaders within the optometric profession.

She currently serves as the Vice President of the Student Optometric Leadership Network (SOLN) executive board where she helps support students in their pursuit of private-practice optometry. Dr. Gelhaus is deeply devoted to the field of optometry and enjoys not only taking care of her patient’s ocular health and needs but also contributing to their overall quality of life.

In her free time, you can find Shelby attending CrossFit classes, hiking, exploring the city with friends… or sneaking away for a quick beach vacation!
