Dr. Josh Johnston has a clinical focus in dry eye disease. In his current role, Dr. Johnston serves as the Clinical Director and Residency Director at Georgia Eye Partners, where he also leads the Dry Eye Center of Excellence. He is a commended author and speaker, having delivered 500+ lectures on dry eye disease and other eye related topics. In 2021, Newsweek Magazine named Dr. Johnston one of the Top 25 Optometrists in the United States.
Dr. Johnston grew up in Austin, Texas and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University. Dr. Johnston went on to earn his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He trained as an intern completing rotations in Atlanta, the Veterans Administration Medical Center in New York, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in San Diego, and The Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago. He now serves as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Southern College of Optometry.
Dr. Johnston is a member of the Georgia Optometric Association, the Greater Atlanta Optometric Association, the Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society, the Optometric Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Society and the American Optometric Association. He is a founding member of Intrepid Eye Society and a Fellow with the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Johnston lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and their three young children.
