Now in its 7th year, Dancing Stars of Atlanta is one of the top fundraising events for the Alzheimer’s Association, and as you would imagine, it’s based on the popular ABC network show. The event features 12 local Atlantans paired with professional dancers who will perform (and also fundraise!) on this magical evening.

Dr. Price agreed to participate as one of the Star Dancers this year to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s to honor and remember her mother-in-law, Viola Dircks, whose life was forever altered by this disease.

While this event has proven to be an entertaining and memorable evening, the mission it supports is most significant. Funds raised from Dancing Stars of Atlanta support the many programs and services provided for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, as well as their families and caregivers. Here are some staggering facts:

  • 5.4 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Every 67 seconds someone in the U.S. is diagnosed.
  • 200,000 of these individuals live here in Georgia.
  • These numbers are expected to triple by 2050!

Most important, Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death, and the only disease with no cure or treatment to slow its progression.
